Kenshiro (Ken for short) is the main protagonist of the Hokuto no Ken manga, anime and related media. He is the 64th successor of the Hokuto Shinken style and considered one of the greatest successors in its 1,800 year history.

His famous catchphrase "You are already dead" (お前はもう死んでいる Omae wa mou shindeiru) is delivered to those opponents whom he kills before they even know they're dead.

TOKİ

Toki (トキ, Toki) is the second of the four Hokuto brothers, Toki is a pacifist who seeks to use Hokuto Shinken as a healing art. Toki's self-made technique of Hokuto Ujō Ken (北斗有情拳, "Big Dipper Humane Fist") is adept at both healing and destroying. When using this style, his adversaries experience intense ecstasy before their deaths, instead of horrifying pain. According to Kenshiro, Toki had the most elegant style of the four brothers and was the ideal successor to Hokuto Shinken before his illness

REİ

Rei (レイ) was the successor of the Nanto Suichōken (南斗水鳥拳) style and one of the Nanto Rokusei Ken, bearing the destiny of the "Star of Justice" (義星 Gisei)

Yuda (also romanized as Juda) is the successor of Nanto Kōkaku Ken (南斗紅鶴拳, South Dipper Crimson Crane Fist) style and one of the Nanto Rokusei Ken (Six Holy Fists of Nanto). He bears the destiny of the "Star of Enchantment/Beauty" (妖星, Yōsei), which is also referred to as the "Star of Betrayal/Deception" (裏切りの星, Uragiri no Hoshi).

Yuda is infamous among the Nanto Rokusei Ken for betraying them in order to ally himself with Raoh, taking 27 subordinate branches of Nanto Seiken with him. It was later revealed that Yuda was manipulated by Souther into doing so, knowing that this would plunge the Nanto Rokusei Ken into chaos. His treachery extends to ally and enemy alike; he has no qualms about sending his men against a far superior foe as part of a plan, nor of using dirty tricks to gain the advantage in a fight.

Yuda's treacherous streak is only matched by his supreme vanity. He keeps a harem of concubines who are forced to worship his beauty, who he gives to his men when he considers their use expired. Although cunning and skilled in his chosen art, Yuda's obsession with beauty often works against him; he flies into a blind rage if his appearance or skills are mocked, and he can be immobilized with awe by techniques that exceed the beauty of his own.

It was eventually revealed that Yuda kidnapped Mamiya on her 20th birthday, murdering her parents before her very eyes and making her part of his harem, until she eventually escaped. When Rei discovered this, he challenged Yuda to avenge Mamiya's honor. Yuda himself, was nursing a deep-seated hatred towards Rei, feeling that Rei's beautiful Nanto Suichō Ken had overshadowed his own fighting style even before the nuclear apocalypse.

Aware that Rei had only days to live after his fight with Raoh, Yuda used his wiles to avoid confrontation until he believed Rei was on the brink of death. However, Rei's life was extended by Toki, making Yuda no match for his revitalized strength and spirit. Not to be outdone, Yuda had his minions destroy the dam in Mamiya's Village, using the flood to restrict Rei's graceful footwork and leave him vulnerable to Yuda's long-range attacks. Yuda appeared to have turned the tables until Kenshiro interfered with this scheme, sealing the dam with a massive piece of rock which allowed Rei to perform Hishō Hakurei and finish the fight.

After his defeat, Yuda confessed his feelings of envy and admiration for his rival before mortally wounding himself by stabbing Rei's hands into his own chest. He then concedes that Rei was always the stronger and more beautiful fighter, expiring (by his own request) in Rei's arms.

After many years, Mamiya's Village Elder sculptured a statue of him in a cave along with other deceased Nanto warriors in their honor, but Falco (Solia in the anime) destroyed all of them and killed the Elder in the process.

JUZA

Juza of the Clouds (雲のジュウザ Kumo no Jūza)

Juza is a member of the Nanto Goshasei (南斗五車星, "Five Chariot Stars of the South Dipper") and represents the wandering spirit of the Clouds. He has mastered a self-styled martial art (我流の拳, Garyū no Ken) and was considered the most gifted of the Goshasei.

Appearance

Juza is a tall, muscular and handsome man, with brown hair (blue in the anime). He usually wears a light armor.

Personality

Juza is best described as a carefree, nihilistic man. He is always carried away by his emotions, in addition to enjoying playing pranks on people.

Although he doesn't like to follow orders, and takes everything as a joke, he is able to be serious when the situation suits him.

Manga & TV Series

Juza was Yuria's childhood sweetheart and wished to marry her, but his dreams were shattered when he discovered she was his half-sister from the same father. As a result, Juza descended into a hedonistic and promiscuous lifestyle to bury the pain. The Goshasei believed Juza was the only one capable of stopping Raoh, but Juza, being a free-spirited man, did not wish to fight for the sake of the Last Nanto General. When he discovered it was none other than his beloved Yuria, Juza swore his life to her and rode into battle against Raoh. Juza had known Raoh since childhood and was the perfect foil to Raoh's serious nature. Ryuken once remarked that the two of them were equals.

Juza was famously the first and only man to steal Kokuoh from Raoh. For this humiliation, Raoh refused to move until his mighty steed returned to him. When Juza returned for a rematch, he suffered the true extent of Raoh's strength and was defeated. However, he endured Raoh's torture to the bitter end and refused to identify the Last Nanto General. Raoh described Juza's death as 'terrifying' and ordered his men to prepare an honorable burial for his fallen rival. However, it was this same tenacity that revealed the Last Nanto General's identity to Raoh, as he knew that Juza would only sacrifice his life for Yuria.

In the television series, Juza has his own gang of punks, who effectively replace Fudou's army in the manga. Juza is captured by the Goshasei when Rihaku's daughter, Tou, infiltrates his hideout and spikes his drink before they take him to meet the Last Nanto General.

Juza's fight with Raoh is extended in this version. After surviving Raoh's interrogation, Juza evades the blow that killed him in the manga and continues fighting, despite his grievous wounds (he lampshades this turn of events by declaring "I'm of the clouds. I move and do as I please. We're doing this my way."). Eventually, he succumbs to one of Raoh's secret techniques and dies, only to rise up and continue battling Raoh for a few more moments. He manages to wound Raoh with a flying punch before finally exsanguinating from Raoh's previous attack. Raoh remarks that Juza's body had continued fighting even in death, and orders that his army give the fallen warrior a respectful burial.

Juza Gaiden

Juza's side story details his life prior to his appearance in Hokuto no Ken. Juza is introduced as the trump card of an opposition army fighting against Raoh, and expresses a stronger playboy attitude than was shown in his appearances in Hokuto no Ken. Central to the plot is his search for Kenshiro, who Juza holds a grudge against for being unable to protect Yuria.

Juza leaves the opposition army after a junior member named Yan tells him about the leaders' plan to keep him there and that Cassandra has fallen. He eventually stumbles upon a village controlled by Raoh's army and governed by one of Raoh's officers Yona, and after a brief struggle, manages to free the village from the control of Raoh's army.

In a flashback, we learn that Juza never knew his father and his mother died when he was small. He was raised by the female owner of a brothel until Rihaku came looking for a boy with the star birthmark (on his waist) in order to become a Nanto Goshasei member. Juza would leave the training grounds because no one of the other members could match his strength and because he did not wish to fight for an unknown General. After getting food poisoning in the forest Juza was brought back in a weakened state. Bedridden, Juza would meet Yuria for the first time and open up emotionally.

Hyui and Shuren track down Juza to a brothel and have a duel hoping to convince him to return and fight for the Last Nanto General. Overpowered once again they follow him on his journey for a short time. Juza's brief reunion with his brother Ryuga turns sour after learning that Ryuga has forsaken his 'lone wolf' spirit and has chosen to follow Raoh. Juza battles Ryuga to a stalemate and Ryuga proclaims that their next meeting shall be fatal for one of them. After the battle, both Hyui and Shuren leave, entrusting destiny to hopefully persuade Juza to carry out his destiny.

Eventually, he stumbles across Mamiya's Village, and is surprised and subdued by MamiyaAiri appears, and Juza realizes that Rei had died and recalls his tie with the Suichoken practitioner. When he brings up Kenshiro's inability to protect Yuria, he is slapped by Mamiya, who, Airi explains, was grieved by Rei's death and associated it with his inability to protect her. This causes Juza to let go of his grudge against Kenshiro and the events of Juza's appearance in Hokuto no Ken follow.

The Tentei (天帝 Heaven Emperor) is the ruler of the Central Capital and the masters of Gento Koken are her personal guardians. Originally, the Hokuto Soke was the "Shield of the Tentei" and Hokuto Shinken was used to defend her.

Sometime in the late 20th century, twin Tentei daughters were born, Lui and Lin. This was an ill omen and threatened to split the Heavens in two. Jako forced Falco to enforce the harsh archaic law: the younger twin Lin was to be killed. Falco could not go through with it and secretly gave Lin to a loving adoptive family. Lui grew up to be crowned Tentei and Lin was raised a commoner unaware of her true identity.

After the nuclear holocaust, Jakō kidnapped Lui and declared himself regentKenshiro and the Hokuto Army later helped liberate Lui and she and Lin were reuinited.

After being beaten by Kenshiro KasumiEmperor Aisin-Gioro Puyi exclaimed that the successor of Hokuto Shin Ken is supposed to be the Emperor's protector. It is unclear if this means that the Tentei is the same thing as the Emperor of China or if Puyi is simply mistaken. (He wasn't even really the Emperor of China at this point in history.)
